EN The 2024 BMX European Championship is a thing of the past. On Friday, there was a race for cruisers and categories under 10 years, on Saturday there was a race for categories 15 and 16, Junior, U23 and Elite, and on Sunday, the challenge category 11+ started. The weather in Verona was like on a swing throughout the event, with torrential rain alternating with very high temperatures. But that didn't stop our riders from showing what performance and potential we have. Mistrovství Evropy Friday's race traditionally belongs to riders competing on cruisers. We also had several participants at the start. The greatest successes were achieved by riders who otherwise do not participate in cruiser races, but rather diversified their participation in the EC. Six of our representatives managed to make it to the finals. Štěpánka Fremlová, who placed seventh in the Cruiser Girls 16-under category. This category was merged with the Cruiser Girls 12-under category and Dominika Vysocká took silver. Last year's world champion in this category, Adam Peterek, won the bronze medal in the Cruiser 13/14 category. In the final, he was joined by another Czech representative, Štěpán Havelka, who crossed the finish line in seventh place. Tomáš Haluza went one step higher, taking home the silver in the Cruiser 35/39 category. The last finalist on cruisers was Robert Boček, who crossed the finish line in sixth place in the Cruiser 45/49 category. On Friday, younger categories under 10 were also presented at the start. Here, all the spectators witnessed an almost Czech final in the Boys 10 category, as five of our representatives fought for the title of European champion in their category. The final ride, almost reminiscent of the final of this category at the Czech Cups, was a huge spectacle. Jiří Luska had the best start and entered the first corner side by side with Tomáš Souček. However, Jan Očenášek noticed their fight and went through the first corner with ease. He took the lead and held it for the rest of the final race. Tomáš Souček finished second, Jiří Luska third, Matyáš Karel Klapetek seventh and Tadeáš Vlk eighth, but Jan Očenášek from Venice became European champion! In the Boys 8 category, Radim Průcha finished in silver, and Petr Vacek took fifth place. In the category one year older, i.e. Boys 9, we again had two casts on the final ramp. Max Roškot took home the fourth place and Albert Kohoutek the fifth place. As already mentioned in the previous article, in Saturday's category Championships, spectators saw a total of three representative jerseys at the start of the final races. Vít Novotný took fourth place in the Boys 16 category, Jakub Cidlinský took overall fifth place in the Men Junior category, and Sabina Košárková, competing in the Women U23 category, became the bronze medalist of the EC. Sunday was again generous for our country and we even almost repeated Friday's dominance in the Boys 10 category. Boys 13 category riders have long been among the European or even world leaders, and we can watch their performances at domestic races, where they try to dominate the 13-14 category. Dominik Ráliš joined Jan Očenášek and he too became European champion in his category. In the Boys 13 final, he was joined by fifth Matyáš Krnáč, sixth Daren Dvořák and seventh Štěpán Havelka. In the Girls 14 category, Veronika Žáčková placed sixth and thus joined Štěpánka Fremlová, who won the final in Friday's race. The last finalist from our country was a matador and seasoned rider who still manages to keep up with young juniors and elites at Czech races, Tomáš Haluza. At the start of the final, he was not the only former elite player, as he fought for the title with the Italian De Vecchi and the French Gutierrez. After an unsuccessful attempt to make it onto the podium in the first corner, he had to settle for a final seventh place.
