Almost the complete set of competitors included in the Talent Team and the BMX Representation for 2025 went to Verona, Italy in the first half of March, where a joint training session was on the program. Only two riders were missing, namely Sabina Košárková, who is currently racing in the southern hemisphere, and Marek Neužil, who will be preparing for this season in Aigle, Switzerland, where the International Cycling Union UCI and its world cycling center, which offers the development of talented competitors from all over the world, are based. We will soon bring you more detailed information about Mára's journey.

But let's go back to Verona, the city where riders from all over Europe meet on the track during the winter months. The local track has everything that is important for the development of riding skills. A standard BMX track consists of one starting hill and four straights. There are two starting hills and seven straights here. Above all, the two starting hills are probably the biggest attraction. The smaller five-meter one serves riders of all age categories (Challenge category), the higher eight-meter one is used in races for the Junior, Under 23 and Elite categories. When we add to that a better chance of good weather and also a track surface that can withstand heavy rain, it is almost an obvious choice.

During the several days when the training camp was held, our competitors prepared for the upcoming season together: Tobias Bleier, Elen Lapková, Oliver Miltner, Vít Novotný, Viktor Oldřich Chudoba, Vít Stloukal, Vít Gruntorád, Jakub Cidlinský, Jakub Klement, Jakub Vesecký, Vojtěch Polesný and Eliška Bartuňková. The focus of the training was racing pace training. Driving side by side is one of the key factors that determines success or failure. You can get into this elbow-to-elbow racing situation immediately after the start, which brings us to another important aspect of bicross, the starts themselves. We drove a lot of them during the training camp. From the beginning in a smaller number of riders with an emphasis on the correct technique of movement and subsequent departure from the start. Here we made full use of modern technology in the form of iPads, which we received from the Czech Cycling Association. During the training sessions, there were video analyzes and subsequent corrections in the technique. Riders immediately liked the iPads. At the end of the camp, there was also a simulation of the race, where the entire starting grid was filled, and the riders experienced racing stress for the first time this year.

Unfortunately, we did not avoid falls, but fortunately we avoided major injuries. Thanks to this concentration, our competitors have a greater awareness of their current readiness before the sharp start of this season and can appropriately focus on the final small adjustments. In two weeks, a large part of European riders will meet here, as the first two rounds of the European BMX Racing Cup 2025 are on the program.
