EN After 14 years, Copenhagen, Denmark, once again hosted the UCI BMX Racing World Championship. Since Denmark is relatively close, it was reasonable to expect a large participation of Czech riders. In the end, 65 Czechs contributed to the total number of 3223 starting challenge competitors. The local track, which underwent a major renovation last year, could look forward to maximum traffic. Mistrovství světa The World Championship of Challenge category drivers was spread over six days. The first two days were devoted to training. The occupation of the individual training blocks was huge, and therefore during one training session lasting 1.5 hours, the rider drove the track four to six times. That's definitely not a lot of time to try out all the straights and different variations of jumping jumps. Riders must therefore take advantage of every opportunity and should not waste time dropping a ride in practice. The race itself started with the Cruiser race on Monday. Here we recorded two final positions. Štěpán Havelka (Cruiser Boys 13/14) and Jakub Skřejpek (Cruiser Men 40/44) took care of them. For Havelka, this race was considered a bit of a diversion before Wednesday's race in the Boys 14 category. The diversion was very successful, as Štěpán repeated his ranking from this year's European Championship in Valmiera, i.e. fourth place!! Jakub Skřejpek literally won his place in the final in his semi-final run. Here he showed a really combative and experienced performance and could look forward to the final. In the end, he took the overall seventh place! The second day was even more successful for us. This day belonged to the youngest and also the few remaining Cruiser categories. Laura Tejmarová, the ruler of the domestic bicross scene, also dominated the world scene. Among the girls, Girls 8 did not find a conqueror in the finals, and her tears immediately after crossing the finish line meant great joy at winning the title of challenge world champion!!! Our Boys 11 category riders did not disappoint again and took the majority of podiums in Copenhagen. Jan Očenášek won second place, Tomáš Souček finished third. The fourth finalist on the second day was Tomáš Haluza. Like Havelka, he also spiced up his WC with a race on cruisers. He took overall fifth place in the Cruiser Men 35/39 category. The third day was the day when our great hope for the title, Dominik Ráliš, stood at the start of the race. Not only him, but all our riders in the Boys 14 category are European format riders. Two of them made it to the final here in Copenhagen. We are talking about Dominik Ráliš and Matyáš Krnáč. Ráliš confirmed his role as the favorite and dominated his category throughout the day. Krnáč showed a very stable performance, which earned him that final participation. The boys finished the final as follows: Ráliš first, Krnáč fifth. The fourth and last day of the Challenge categories belonged to the oldest riders. The wish of our expedition was clear, i.e. not to break the tradition of the previous days and to have our representatives in the final on this day as well. Tomáš Haluza fulfilled this wish for us. He could thus once again enjoy the journey up to the start of his final ride. In the very busy Masters Men category, which also included participants of the Olympic Games, he finished the race in an unpopular potato, but still a very nice fourth position. We thank all the Czech participants of the WC for their commitment and performance in the race.
