EN What we lacked at the WC in Rock Hill, USA, to our greatest joy, was fulfilled at the European Championship in Verona, Italy. Our representative team will take home the precious metal! Sabina Košárková jumped from the world's top four to the European top three and is currently enjoying a bronze medal around her neck. However, she was not the only finalist from our country. Mistrovství Evropy Elen Lapková, who moved very steadily in the leading positions of the European Cup races this year, was very well placed to participate in the finals of this year's EC. However, the semi-final was the best for her and she returns home as the 11th best rider of the ME in the Girls 16 category. She definitely has potential for the future, as well as performance. Vít Novotný has always been a powerful rider, but the power he possesses this season is really very convincing. The progress to the semi-finals was without major difficulties, the semi-finals were already a chore for Viţa. But she wasn't unrealistic. The final went well and he started his final from the outdoor track with a very convincing start. In the middle of the first straight, it looked like he would take the lead, but the driver, who was still ahead of Víťa, uncompromisingly closed the entire starting field. It was the final fourth place for Viţa. Juniors Jakub Cidlinský and Jakub Klement sailed through the race without much difficulty and met together at the start of the semi-finals. Klement started better, but Cidlinský gradually made his way through the starting field. Cidlinský brought his ride to a successful end, and the final ride was waiting for him. The final gates closed for Klement after being pushed out of the second turn and he ended up in 12th place overall. Jakub Cidlinský fought his way from the back positions in the final and managed to cross the finish line in fifth place. Sabina Košárková is experiencing a very successful spring 2024. After success at the WC and fourth place at the WC, she was able to make it to the podium of the European Championship in the Women U23 category. Maybe it's just a shame of the unsuccessful start in the final, because honestly she really had a gold medal today. With his performance, Marek Neužil continued the successful weekend of the ČP in Prague-Řepy. His starts in the Men U23 category were phenomenal. He played the role of one of the favorites all day. The quarter-final start was perhaps his best so far, at least for today, but at the end of the first straight he was unfortunately slowed down by a falling rider behind him and the day was over for him, in 28th place. Eliška Bartuňková finished in 11th place, just like at the WC in Rock Hill, after an unsuccessful start in the semi-finals. Three final positions (3. Košárková, 4. Novotný and 5. Cidlinský), together with three positions in the semi-finals (Lapková, Klement, Bartuňková), is a great achievement and we hope that there will be even more in the future. Challenge categories have not yet been completed. Friday's race in the cruiser and younger categories was a success for our country. Above all, the final of the Boys 10 category was a Czech affair, as five Czech fighters battled it out for the title of European champion. In Sunday's race of older challenge categories, we have several Czech representatives again, so let's hope that they will follow up on the past two days! Next weekend, the 5th and 6th rounds of the Sazka ČP BMX will be held in Venátky nad Jizerou, where you can meet all the successful representatives and maybe take a picture with them.
